Students returning home for the holidays by train could face possible disruption as various hold-ups and diversions are set to begin over Easter weekend.
Passengers on the West Coast Main Line around Stirling are likely to be the worst affected, with certain trains running along the east coast also set for diversions.
Engineering works on the Glasgow-London line will affect anyone traveling south of Birmingham between Saturday and Monday, with Virgin Rail suggesting that passengers switch to traveling down the east coast.
Work beginning this Easter weekend between Larbert and Dunblane will also affect anyone traveling on ScotRail between Glasgow and Inverness or Aberdeen as well as services between Edinburgh or Glasgow and Dunblane.
Certain trains will be diverted, whilst others are replaced by buses.
Disruptions are also expected on Sunday between Glasgow, Ayr and Ardrossan.
South of the border, trains running along the East Coast Main Line between Doncaster and York will be diverted via Leeds, adding an estimated 40 minutes to travel time.
On the roads, problems are expected in England around the M6 in the Midlands, the M4 West of London and the M5 heading to the West Country. In Scotland, the A77/M77 Glasgow-Ayrshire faces heavy congestion, whilst major roadworks continue on the M74 in Lanarkshire.
