A creative project designed to get students' input over  campus revamps has seen a disappointing amount of entries since it was launched in January.

For over three weeks students have been invited to send in their ideas to “Pimp My School” on how to best improve the facilities on campus for a better student experience.

The winning entry will be made a reality with a £400,000 budget allocated to refurbish the most poorly used spaces across campus.

Organizer and Edinburgh University Students' Association vice president academic affairs Evan Beswick told The Journal: “We’ve not received very many entries so far, which is a little disappointing. I can’t stress enough what a fantastic and unique opportunity this is for students to reshape spaces around the university to meet their own study needs”.

Mr Beswick continued: “I’d urge students, if you’ve sat uncomfortably in Moray House or the foyer of the Swann lecture theatre, don’t wait for someone else to sort it. Grab a camera, crayons, glitter glue, or just write out your ideas in prose, and let us know what you’d like your study or social areas to look like.

“So far, the engineers already have a fantastic entry in so competition is tough. The entries do take a bit of effort and creativity but will have real impact, both in the short term and as part of the University’s longer estates strategy.

“We’ve got until Friday 5 March for entries to come in”.

The winners will be announced at a reception in mid-March held for everyone who entered the competition."

Prizes will be given to the best three entries and some of the ideas will be on display at the reception and on the university website. The prizes are Amazon vouchers in the amounts of £100, £50 and £30.

They will be used as a reference point for future improvements at the university.
