The prime minister, David Cameron, has locked swords with the University of Oxford today, after claiming that the university admitted only one black student last year.
Oxford authorities have criticised Mr Cameron for remarks made at a public event in Harrogate (see video below).
The PM is understood to have been referring to statistics which show that only one student entering Oxford last year identified as 'black-Caribbean'. The university claim, however, that Mr Cameron failed to acknowledge students identifying as 'black-African' or 'black-other'.
