Queen Margaret University (QMU) has announced the opening of the official Homecoming Scotland 2009 Archive. The Archive contains a number of relics exclusive to Scotland including a Robert Burns memory box, a limited edition Famous Grouse label and an Irn Bru can.
According to a press release issued by Professor Joe Goldblatt, architect of the exhibition, the archive will “not only be of interest to many Scots and the Diaspora” but will also form a framework for similar projects in the future “allowing organisers to preserve and transmit the outcomes of their events to various audiences.”
Prof. Goldblatt also told The Journal : “University students, in particular, will benefit from the Homecoming Scotland 2009 Archives.” According to Prof. Goldblatt students will see “hundreds of examples of how university students may find ways to fully participate in the Homecoming Scotland 2014 celebration”.
The archive has been created with the support of the Scottish Government and was opened in Edinburgh at General Register House, 2 Princes Street, on Monday 25 July. It is currently based at Queen Margaret University but will be made available to a wider audience by travelling across Scotland until March 2012.
